Henan University
is located in Kaifeng, in the Henan Province
of central China.
With the Yellow River, the mother river of the Chinese people flowing through
it, Henan Province is the cradle of ancient
Chinese civilization. As a famous historic and cultural city, Kaifeng was the capital of seven dynasties in feudal China.
It is believed that the most
magical place in China is Henan province. If you do not visit Henan
and Kaifeng, then your travels to China
will be incomplete. Kaifeng is a centuries-old culturally historical as well
as a simple and unsophisticated city that constitutes the favorable learning
environment for the students of Henan
University.
Founded
in 1912, Henan University
is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in China. During
the past 90-odd years, the university has graduated over 300,000 students.
The university consists of 26 schools presently and is entitled to confer the
Master’s degree in nearly 200 specialties including literature, history,
philosophy, economics, management, law, science, technology, medicine,
agriculture, and education. Additionally the university is also authorized to
grant PhDs in Public Economics, Regional Economics, Political Economics,
Foundations of Education, Chinese Classical Documents, Modern and
Contemporary Chinese Literature, History of Ancient China, Condensed State
Physics, High Polymer Physics and Chemistry, Anthropogeography, Botany,
Natural Geography, Cartography, Geographical Information Systems, and Elementary
Principles of Marxism.
Today,
3,600 faculty members serve about 35,000 full-time students including 3,500
graduates. The university library houses a collection of over 3 million
volumes. The total area of the campus is over 3,600 mus and the floor area of
the buildings is over one million square meters. In comparative university
rankings in China, Henan University is consistently among the
top 100 universities. With her splendid history, rich content, strong
teaching staff, extensive disciplines, harmonious academic atmosphere and
beautiful campus, Henan University has always been an ideal center of
learning for the ambitious.
Henan University, as an international and
open-minded university, has been cooperating and communicating with foreign
universities and research institutes since it was founded. The university is
a member of the IAU (International Association of Universities), the AUAP
(Association of Universities in Asia and the
Pacific) and also a board member of the AUAP. The university has established
relations of friendship and cooperation with more than 70 universities from
over 40 countries and regions. At present, the university also enrolls
overseas students from more than 10 countries and regions of Asia, America and Europe.
